Costco Kitchen Light

While browsing Costco, and sampling food. You know you do it. We ran across these great Kitchen, lights. $30, and some change. They are stainless steel, and we couldn't pass them up. The before light fixture is below. Couldn't get a pic fast enough, the Hubs took them down, fast.

Crazy things you find at Costco, but fun.

Barrel Chairs Redone!! Refinishing Chairs

The Barrel Chairs are Done!! Hooray!! See below.

Taken apart, washed, sanded and dried.

Sprayed with Kilz to eliminate any stains or odors. Hey, they are vintage.

Spray painted black. Some of the cane is missing, I just left it that way, gives it character.

Finished with great fabric my daughter picked out. After all they are going in her apartment.

They look so great with her butter colored leather couch, and she has a black throw, and some damask pillows, like you can see on the floor in the other pic. Love these chairs. They have even survived their first party.

These were a great find for $70 for the pair, and with all the paint and fabric my total came to $120.00. So that made them $60 a chair, you just can't beat that. Love Craig's list, great find and great chairs. What are you redoing?

Mad Men Bar -- Armoire Bar - Make Your Own

While perusing Pottery Barn, I ran across these first three pictures of bars. As always I immediately thought of Mad Men, and how there was a bar in every house (pics below of bars in Mad Men and Rope). So it got me to thinking about an old armoire that was made to hold a TV that is in storage here at the house. I wonder if I could convert it into an Armoire Bar? Might be something for my January renovations. I can't help myself, every January I set about redecorating and renovating, not spending tons of money mind you, just repurposing. Oh, and it always involves rearranging. Maybe a bar like this will get included in my repurposing. If so I'll post pics. Hopefully this gives a little inspiration.

Retro Parson's Desk - Table

I love this room from Metropolitan Home. I love the dark wall behind the bed. I love the retro style Parson's Desk, Table at the end of the bed. This is an easy in expensive purchase. Walmart has Parson's Desks for less than $75.00 in great colors. A Parson's desk/table is also a great landing strip at a front door for bills, keys, etc. So if you need an inexpensive update in your home, here it is new and retro at the same time.

Mary Tyler Moore Show

I loved the Mary Tyler Moore Show. When my daughter was little we used to watch it together. In the opening credits she tosses meat into her grocery cart. When we would go to the store my daughter would always say toss the meat. It still makes me laugh to this day. Well, here is a great pic of her stage layout, as well as an outside shot of the house. Enjoy.

Great White Interiors - Diane Keaton's House

I am preparing to repaint our 1947 adobe style home here in the beautiful Southwest. I really want to go with a stark white. It has cove ceilings and heavily textured walls, that really soak up the paint. I did a test in the small living room up front and loved it. That made me think of other stark white interiors and I remembered Diane Keaton's house that was featured in Architectural Digest. I believe it is currently on the market. I am sure it is out of my price range. Yep, I read it is listed for $11.9 million, (maybe correct -- maybe not) but, definitely out of my price range.

Red -- Rocking Chairs - Vintage to Now

After picking the 2nd ripe tomato from my garden it got me to thinking about Red. I love red. I have red leather chairs in my family room, mixed with a brown leather sofa. Red can be new. Red can be vintage. I am getting ready to re-do a spindle rocking chair that we bought when our daughter, who is now in college was born. It was originally white, and I was thinking black, but now after posting the pictures below, I am thinking Red.....will post pics when done.

Red spindle rocking chair. I may do mine red....

Red Eames Molded Plastic Rocking Chair. I truly covet Eames furniture.

Red Adirondack rocking chair. I didn't know you could get Adirondack rocking chairs.

A Traditional Red Double rocking chair. Great for a porch, portal, lani, depends on where you live.

1960's Mad Men - Interiors - Colors

In keeping with the Gimlet, Mad Men!! Season 3 set to start in August. What a great show.

Venitian Blinds, the desk the furniture, the beige with blue/green carpet. All that is back.
Love the blue/green sofa. Using that color in my bedroom. That color is everywhere.

What a great strong statement. The mid level walls with the high gloss white/cream trim. Very current even for today. So what goes around really does come back around.

Love the beige, the brown and navy of his clothing, very popular in interiors today.

Can't finish without mentioning the IBM Selectric.....need I say more?
