The New Original Penguin Shirts.
Original Penguin Shirt $59.00 originalpenguin.com.
Original Penguin Shirt $59.00 originalpenguin.com.
Do you remember the Original Penguin Shirts? I remember them as a golf shirt my dad wore. I believe you could find them at JC Penney. Well, they are back with a new generation. The 20 somethings just love them. Oh, and they are pricey. Not like you remember, except the penguin logo, and a tad more updated styling. None the less a classic is back.

"Remember The Night" Old Christmas Movies TCM Turner Classic Movies
Turner Classic Movies is opening their vault and showing some old Christmas Movie Classics. The one below is "Remember The Night", with Fred McMurry and Barbara Stanwyck. I missed the first showing, and have to admit I have never seen it. Wonder if Netflix has it? However, good old TCM will show it again on Christmas Eve. I love, love, love cheesy Christmas Movies!!

Dry Erase White Board Paint For Walls -- Idea Paint
Old houses always need a touch of fun. So how fun is this white board paint? It is called Idea Paint, and it works on smooth surface walls, doors, tables, use your imagination. My daughter has an old apartment with a stark white kitchen. Now, how fun would it be to paint the large wall in the kitchen, and let everyone draw on it? When you are done with the paint, you just paint over it and no more white board. Hmmm, I may need to mention this to her.

Vintage Sears Mail Order - Homes - Giveaways
With the onslaught of advertising being put in my newspaper daily, it reminded me of the old Sears Catalog. Do you remember the Sears Catalog? Ok, how about Green or Gold Stamps, (that is totally another post). Remember, dog earring the pages, and showing your parents. Well, here is a blast from the past. Did you know Sears had mail order houses. They did and they have a whole archive of the houses, prices, descriptions, and floor plans at: http://www.searsarchives.com/homes. What a trip through time.
The home below was the San Jose 1928, and was $2138. Now I wonder if that included the stucco?
The beautiful home below, was circa 1913 and sold for $1273, which included all the material to build it. Talk about your DIY project.

Candles -- Candleholders -- Lanterns
I love candles. I love candleholders, candlesticks, and lanterns. I love to light them with scented and non-scented candles both. So here is a little candle love to enjoy and inspire you for the Holiday Season. If you worry about fire, or leaving them burning, try the new "Flameless Candles" they come in single and 3 packs at places like Target, even Home Depot. They give you the feel and smell - (yes, some are scented), of a real candle. Now about lanterns, I love them too! Now I just need to collect some more for my outside displays. Enjoy.

Redoing a Bed Side Table
It is no secret that I love Pottery Barn. I love it, they never have a look I don't like. They are so perfect for any home, including those older homes so many of us live in. With today's economy, refurbishing is what every one is doing. I guess you could say refurbishing is the new "black". I also love love love, that they use older type homes as their sets. Pottery Barn is quickly becoming it's own "Shelter Magazine". With so many folding, where are we going to go for inspiration.
But-- enough of my rant. Imagine my thrill when I saw this great red side table. I have some old nasty brown ones with tons of water rings that look almost like that one. I think I should sand and paint red. What a great look, or I could sand and paint black with a gold or silver undertone to peek through. Hmmmm, lots of choices. What to choose.

Christmas Tree Craft Project for Before Thanksgiving
What a great project to start for the Holidays. A Christmas Tree with pictures from past Christmases. Just scan and print out, or go to your local copy store and color copy them. Then, put on a piece of cardboard, or mat board, you can even buy mats, or the kids can make mats out of construction paper. Add some glitter, and you are getting ready for a fun and festive Christmas.

I also love love love the stark white walls. What a backdrop.
